To be free...

What does it mean to be free?

To be free means to live outside of the influence of what you are afraid or anxious about.

The life of a believer is a life of freedom.

What is the difference between a believer and an unbeliever?

A believer is one who has been set free from the dominion of darkness and now dwells in the kingdom of God's dear son, Jesus Christ.

The three enemies of a believer are:

  • Sin
  • Poverty
  • Sickness
  • Death
John 10:10 says that the thief comes but to kill, steal and destroy. I have come that you might have life and have it more abundantly.

Romans says that the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life.

The only way to defeat the enemies listed above is to determine to live the life of Christ that is deposited in your spirit when you give your life to God.

Romans 8:2 lets us know that the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus makes us free from the law of sin and death,

This simple lesson lets us know that we can only live by one law. Our call is to live under the law of the Spirit of life in Christ.

Living under the law of the Spirit of life in Christ is a joy.

The law of sin and death:

This is the law that makes a demand on the life of everyone who has sins or has ever since. It reserves the right to demand death. This is cause and effect. The natural way of things is that every man who sins owes wages. They must die according to natural law.

The law of the Spirit of life in Christ:

This is the law that sets free everyone who has come into Christ and come under the blessing.

This law says that the one who has come into Christ has died. They died on the cross in Christ Jesus. They have been buried and have risen up into new life in Christ.

This law says, that should death challenge the one who has come into Christ, they can place an injunction on death and say, I have already died in Christ (Galatians 2:20) I have been risen and the life I now live, I live it by the faith of God (the One who died and gave Himself for me).

This law says death has been suspended by the law of the Spirit of life in Christ. I now live as though Christ lives on earth and is living through me.

I live the abundant life in Christ.

There are two laws at work in the earth. The law of sin and death, and the law of the Spirit of life in Christ.

Everyone has a choice to live one.

God in Deuteronomy says that He gives every man a choice to make. Then we are enjoined to choose life.

15 “Today I am giving you a choice between good and evil, between life and death. 16If you obey the commands of the LORD your God,+ which I give you today, if you love him, obey him, and keep all his laws, then you will prosper and become a nation of many people. The LORD your God will bless you in the land that you are about to occupy. 17But if you disobey and refuse to listen, and are led away to worship other gods, 18you will be destroyed—I warn you here and now. You will not live long in that land across the Jordan that you are about to occupy. 19I am now giving you the choice between life and death, between God's blessing and God's curse, and I call heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Choose life. 20 Love the LORD your God, obey him and be faithful to him, and then you and your descendants will live long in the land that he promised to give your ancestors, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”

Choose life.
